Why I Work at SABIA

I had given up on ever finding the perfect job. My work history to date had been a fairly ugly mish mash of positions on the lower end of management by intimidation. So far in my career, I had endured much shouting and hissy fitting by people who were in moderate power positions. I imagine that said shouters and hissy fitters were also being treated the same way. This management style reminded me of bad parenting: catch the child doing something wrong, and then swiftly punish. There was no trust, so employees’ every move was watched with the eagle eye of the next level up. It left me feeling disillusioned, defeated and without value. Recently, I was given the opportunity to work at SABIA. I had heard about the company and its unusual culture. Though I was a bit jaded by my past experiences, I decided to give it a go. On my first day at SABIA, I felt like Dorothy entering the colorful Land of Oz for the first time. Toto, we’re not in Kansas anymore, that’s for sure. I immediately noticed that this is a company of people that hold each other in high regard. The people value each other and treat each other with respect. The results oriented management philosophy is for grown ups only. There is no hand holding through the process. As a result, there is a sense of freedom to solve problems with creativity. And because there is a cooperative spirit that seeks to find solutions instead of pointing fingers, there is no fear of mistakes. Everyone rallies to help fix problems. The staff at SABIA is absolutely dedicated to providing the best performance, best value and the best experience for the customer. They love what they do. There is no clock watching or doing as little as possible to squeak by here. Everyone does what ever it takes to get the job done. They take complete ownership in their part of the process, and don’t stop until they are satisfied that they have done their absolute best. So here I am at SABIA. I am excited to be a part of this small but dynamic team who really do trust and value each other. This is where I can use my own creative gifts to add to this great culture. Surrounded by these enthusiastic, positive people, I know that I can thrive.
